Det var i forbindelse med et ukrainsk raid på en oljeplattform som ifølge russerne var slått tilbake med betydelig tap, men da dette Su-30SM flyet kom til åstedet var det for å ta ut ukrainske støtte for raidsstyrkene - som innbar at mål på land var under angrep. Flere Kh-31P missiler var avfyrt da flyet meget brått forsvant fra radarskjermen. 

Det er mulig for en F-16 å "skjule seg" bak urbantopografien i Odessa for å komme overraskende på det russiske flyet som kan være på BVR-avstand, men det vites ikke med sikkerhet. Spesielt fordi russerne er meget intensivt kjent med det elektroniske "fottrykket" som F-16s radar avgir, slik at de på sekundet vil lære at en F-16 lurker i nærheten, det har fulgt til at de som regel holdt seg unna med suksess.

Vi vet ikke om det virker, men F-16 er et fly som russerne kjente i flere tiår og dermed er meget godt kjent med flyets elektroniske fotavtrykk. 

Forresten har det vært en dårlig dag for ukrainerne. Det foregår et voldsomt slag ved Korenevo hvorfra russerne lansert et voldsomt angrep som tok tilbake Snagost, det er ganske åpenbart at ukrainernes offensive kapasitet er dårligere enn russernes, ikke minst fordi ukrainerne har dårlig med menn og materiell. Annetsteds er det klart at Vuhledar er i seriøs fare om å falle i hender på russerne som etter mange dager med bitre strid klart å ta mesteparten av Hordivka i Pokrovsk-frontavsnittet. Det var mange opptak fra Kursk som avslørt hvorfor russiske angrep stadig lykkes, tross et tap på hele 30 % av all materiell og opptil 40 % av alle frontsoldater oppførte de ikke seg som normale soldater - de ignorere døden, bare fortsette og fortsette inntil de overløpet de ukrainske stillingene. Ukrainerne - eller selv vestlige soldater - gjør ikke likedan. Heller ikke ved å angripe så stramt i dybde uten å bry seg om motangrep.

Bare noe de sier. Det var *egentlig* en F-16 med fersk EW-lurium. Ved å la et MANPADS-team ta æren kan de forlenge tiden det tar før russerne gjennomskuer EW-triksene.

Russland er vel slik jeg ser det relativt innovativt sammenlignet med Kina hva utvikling av nye våpensystemer angår. Det de sliter med er å produsere store nok volumer og med høy nok kvalitet til at våpensystemet får nevneverdig betydning for den militære slagkraften.
Kina har AFAIK ikke kommet med noe egenutviklet hva våpentyper og -systemer angår, kun kopier av allerede eksisterende løsninger. Om de kan få kunnskap fra Russland omkring f.eks. langtrekkende kryssermissiler tror jeg nok de takker og bukker for det.
