Jeg vet ikke i detalj hvordan Windows gjør formattering, men her er en oppsummering av hvilke steg InitDisk tar:
(Eksempel på output fra en kjøring. NB! Alt innhold på minnepinnen blir slettet!)
1. Unmounting & deleting drive mount points.
2. Taking the drive offline.
3. Deleting history of drive's previous mounting.
4. Zeroing and rewriting the Master Boot Record (MBR).
5. Applying FAT file system to the drive.
6. Bringing the drive back online.
7. Refreshing the system's drive awareness.
8. Waiting for Windows to remount the drive.
9. Windows remounted the drive volume as: F:\
10. Setting drive F:\ volume label to "INITDISK R5"
11. Running a post-reformat CHKDSK...
The type of the file system is FAT32.
The volume is in use by another process. Chkdsk
might report errors when no corruption is present.
Volume INITDISK R5 created 12/23/2020 12:45 PM
Volume Serial Number is 1411-2C19
Windows is verifying files and folders...
