Hi Everyone,

As mentioned above, NCsoft is providing for as many individuals as possible the opportunity to take on different roles within the company. While the European office will be transitioning to have a stronger focus in marketing and sales, many of the existing jobs over there will be transitioned over to our studios on the US West Coast and our headquarters in Seattle. Meaning, many of the current EU staff will be making the move to the Pacific Northwest.

I think it's important that you all know that today's news is completely independent of Aion. This does not affect our internal timeline and will not delay the game any further.

If you have any questions/comments, feel free to contact me. Thank you for your patience and support during this tough transition period.

Euro development jobs moved to US, confirms NCsoft

NCsoft has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that development positions in the UK are to be moved to North America.

Some 55 development staff were axed in Brighton today, leaving the remaining team to concentrate on European sales and marketing.

"The European office is transitioning to have a stronger focus in marketing and sales, with many of the existing disciplines being consolidated in our studios on the US West Coast and our headquarters in Seattle," said a spokesperson for the company.

"Additionally, we are transitioning to an embedded quality assurance model in which the QA staff works in our studios directly with the development teams, providing support throughout the entire development process.”

The publisher said that as many as 90 employees across the group will be affected by the changes.

Some development and community roles may be recreated in Seattle and California said NCsoft, and there is also a possibility that the sales and marketing team in the UK will grow.

"In order to solidify and streamline company operations across all NCsoft West territories, we are implementing some structural changes which will impact 70 to 90 employees," detailed the company. "We are working with these employees to determine the best fit for approximately 80 alternate positions within the company."

NCsoft to add Fatigue System to Aion.

NCsoft is planning to do a massive update to Aion in February in which a fatigue system called Pneuma from Rest (non-official translation) will be added. The fatigue system in Aion is designed to cut the number of hours players spend in front of their computer screens by reducing experience points and item drop rate in order to prevent gamers from getting addicted to Aion. A similar fatigue system has been adopted in Korean WOW.

According to the system, if the gamer plays Aion for more than 3 consecutive hours, his Pneuma from Rest will start to reduce. When it reaches zero, the experience points obtained by the player as well as his item drop rate will reduce 30%, and in addition during PvP his damage to the opponent will reduce as well. But if the player takes a rest for three hours, his Pneuma from Rest will recover 100% and then everything will return to normal.

Virket nesten kjedelig, at alt skal bli dårligere pga. du spiller lengre, spesielt siden du faktisk må Betale for å spille.

Hi Everyone,

First of all, thank you for being so patient!

I wanted to let you know that, as previously stated, we expect to ship Aion in NCSoft West territories in 2009. This hasn't changed. We have not announced a release date yet for our territories, but rest assured that we will let you know as soon as we are ready to announce a launch date. A launch date, I should add, that will be driven by NCsoft HQ and not the financials.
