Trump tells CNN he’s not worried whether Iran becomes a democratic state https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/06/politics/trump-interview-iran-cuba-dana-bash “It’s gonna work very easily. It’s going to work like did in Venezuela. We have a wonderful leader there. She’s doing a fantastic job. And it’s going to work Iike in Venezuela,” he said, referring to acting president Delcy Rodriguez. Trump also said he was open to having a religious leader in Iran. “Well I may be yeah, I mean, it depends on who the person is. I don’t mind religious leaders. I deal with a lot of religious leaders and they are fantastic,” he said. And pressed on if he is insisting there needs to be a democratic state, Trump told CNN, “No, I’m saying there has to be a leader that’s going be fair and just. Do a great job. Treat the United States and Israel well, and treat the other countries in the Middle East — they’re all our partners.”
Deep underground, IDF officers describe months of covert planning for war against Iran, Hezbollah https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-889056 Speaking from the underground command bunker at the Kirya in Tel Aviv, the three described a prolonged planning effort, intense operational pressure, and the secrecy required to manage the campaign. In recent months, officers in the IDF General Staff’s Operations Directorate have been working to build a war plan for two fronts, Iran and Lebanon, according to interviews with three officers published by Maariv on Thursday. Speaking from the underground command bunker at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv, they described a prolonged planning effort, intense operational pressure, and the secrecy required to manage the campaign. The officers said they had effectively been living double lives, spending their days preparing military plans while concealing nearly everything about their work once they returned home. They said the burden was not only operational, but personal, as they were required to maintain a normal outward routine while handling highly classified information.
All the polls on the U.S. war in Iran so far https://www.gelliottmorris.com/p/polls-us-iran-attack-2026-03-06 (...) The big takeaway from these numbers is that the new war in Iran is very unpopular. Not merely negative-number-so-what unpopular, but worst-ever-support-for-war-when-it-started unpopular. With just 38% of Americans in favor, support for bombing Iran is lower than retrospective support for the war in Iraq was in 2014.
  5. Emanuel Fabian, Times of Israel: The number of ballistic missiles launched from Iran at Israel has slowed to around 20 per day in recent days, according to military estimates. On the first day of the war, Saturday, after Israel and the US launched strikes against Iran, some 90 ballistic missiles were fired toward Israel. The following day, Sunday, the number dropped to around 60. On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, roughly 20 missiles were fired each day in multiple salvos, each consisting of a small number of projectiles. Iran has launched dozens more ballistic missiles at other countries in the Middle East during the conflict. In total, Iranian media claims about 500 ballistic missiles have been fired. The IDF reports that it has so far destroyed more than 300 Iranian ballistic missile launchers — about 60% of Iran’s total stockpile. CENTCOM chief Adm. Brad Cooper said yesterday that Iran’s ballistic missile attacks have decreased by 90% since the first day of the war.
  8. Washington Post: “Russia is providing Iran with targeting information to attack American forces in the Middle East, the first indication that another major U.S. adversary is participating — even indirectly — in the war, according to three officials familiar with the intelligence. The assistance, which has not been previously reported, signals that the rapidly expanding conflict now features one of America’s chief nuclear-armed competitors with exquisite intelligence capabilities. Since the war began Saturday, Russia has passed Iran the locations of U.S. military assets, including warships and aircraft, said the three officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the matter’s sensitivity.” Russia is providing Iran intelligence to target U.S. forces, officials say https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/03/06/russia-iran-intelligence-us-targets/
  9. Financial Times: Qatars energiminister sier at krigen i Midtøsten "kan rive ned verdensøkonomiene", og spår at alle energieksportører i Gulfen vil stenge ned produksjonen innen uker, og oljeprisen vil presses til 150 dollar fatet. Qatar warns war will force Gulf to stop energy exports ‘within days’ https://www.ft.com/content/be122b17-e667-478d-be19-89d605e978ea – Det stemmer vel ikke.
Reporteren bruker bare feil terminologi.
  13. US joins Russia, China in opposing IAEA resolution condemning attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure https://kyivindependent.com/us-joins-russia-china-in-opposing-iaea-resolution-condemning-attacks-on-ukraines-energy-infrastructure/ The U.S. voted against a resolution condemning attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors on March 5, joining Russia, China, and Niger in opposing the measure. It marks the seventh resolution on Ukraine adopted by the IAEA board since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, and the first time Washington has voted against such a measure. The resolution warns that strikes on Ukraine’s energy system supplying nuclear power plants, including the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, pose a direct threat to nuclear safety and security.
  14. Trump om Pahlavi: Trump had said on Wednesday that Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former shah, who is trying to position himself as a leader should Iran’s Shiite theocracy fall, is not someone that his administration has considered in depth to take over leadership in Iran. “It would seem to me that somebody from within, maybe, would be more appropriate,” Trump said in comments to the press at the White House, adding that it may make sense for “somebody that’s there, that’s currently popular, if there is such a person” to emerge from the power vacuum. https://www.timesofisrael.com/trump-i-have-to-be-involved-in-picking-irans-next-leader-khameneis-son-a-lightweight/
  15. Watch: IDF strikes destroy 6 Iranian ballistic missile launchers primed for attack on Israel https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/watch-idf-strikes-destroy-6-iranian-ballistic-missile-launchers-primed-for-attack-on-israel/ The IDF releases footage showing strikes on six armed Iranian ballistic missile launchers that it says were primed for attacks on Israel. The Israeli Air Force struck the launchers over the course of several hours, overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, minutes before the missiles were set to be fired at Israel, the military says. IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said last night that 60 percent of Iran’s missile launchers had been destroyed so far in the ongoing campaign.
