endrebjo 584 Report post Posted September 11, 2005 [*trenepåengelsk*] For internet-/mail-/word-use, 512 MB is considered as a minimum of system RAM. Most of todays gaming-machines has at least 1024 MB (1GB) of system RAM, but for serious hardcore gaming (like you describe), 2048 MB (2GB) would be enough. Two RAM-modules of 1 GB each is recommended for a total of 2 GB. Four modules of 512 MB may create some unnecessary problems. You do not need more than 256 MB of vRAM. It is better to buy a powerful graphic card (with 128-256 MB vRAM) than a slow graphic card with much memory (256-512 MB vRAM). [/*trenepåengelsk*] Quote Share this post Link to post

It worked fine when I ran only two or three applications (for instance Firefox, WinAMP and MSN (+ antivirus, firewall and so on)), but my hard drive made a hell of a noise, and now and then, the system got tremendously irresponsive. If I in addition ran LimeWire and Outlook Express, the system was like syrup. After I had upgraded to 448 MB, I could run almost as many applications as I wished. Quote Share this post Link to post
Brusfantomet 1 Report post Posted September 11, 2005 1x 1 Gb2x 512 Mg This would work fine, rite?? It would work in single channel, butt most probably not in dual channel (in dual channel the to "pools" of dimms must be of equal size) Sorry about my crappy spelling Quote Share this post Link to post
endrebjo 584 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 1x 1 Gb2x 512 Mg 1x 1 GB OR 2x 512 MB or, 1x 1 GB AND 2x 512 MB? Quote Share this post Link to post
New kid on the block 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 1x 1 Gb2x 512 Mg 1x 1 GB AND 2x 512 MB? So this would work?? And could you please tell me what is the differance between a "single" and "duel" channel in conection with RAM?? Quote Share this post Link to post
Bob Ibsen 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 Single / dual channel is not about the RAM-sticks themselves, it's about the memory controller, and the size, number and configuration of the modules. Two or four equally sized sticks in the correct setup, will enable dualchannel. Each channel must see one or two sticks (in most cases). Using three modules will usually disable dualchannel Quote Share this post Link to post

Plukk 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Ut med litt = Bruke litt penger Lav timings= Rask tilgangstid= Bra timing (F.eks: 2-2-2-5 er bedre enn 3-3-3-8) Quote Share this post Link to post
