To begin with, let's start with what we know: we live in a three-dimensional world. We can move forwards and backwards (along the x-axis), left and right (along the y-axis), and up and down (along the z-axis). We can describe any point in space using these three coordinates, also known as x, y, and z.  Now, let's imagine adding another coordinate, which we'll call w. This fourth coordinate represents a direction that is perpendicular to all three of the previous axes. In other words, it's a direction that we can't point to or see in our three-dimensional world.  To help you visualize this, let's use an analogy. Imagine you are a two-dimensional creature, living on a flat sheet of paper. You can move forwards and backwards (along the x-axis) and left and right (along the y-axis), but you can't move up or down, because you don't have a third dimension. Now, imagine a three-dimensional object, like a cube, is placed on your flat sheet of paper. From your perspective, you can only see one face of the cube at a time. As the cube moves through your world, the face you see changes.  Similarly, as we add the fourth dimension to our three-dimensional world, we might not be able to directly see it, but we can see how objects change as they move through this new direction. Just as the cube appeared to change as it moved through the two-dimensional world, objects in our three-dimensional world would appear to change as they move through the fourth dimension.  It's important to note that this is all theoretical, and we can't actually see or experience the fourth dimension in our daily lives. However, mathematicians and physicists use the concept of the fourth dimension to explain things like time, space-time, and the behavior of particles in quantum mechanics.
