Follow the instructions below to check your color palette: 1) Click on the Start button > Settings > Control Panel. 2) Double-click on the Display icon. 3) Click the Settings tab. 4) Modify the Color Palette to say High Color 16 bit and the Desktop Area to 800 by 600. 5) Click on the Apply button once the changes have been made and follow the on-screen prompts to finish the process. Shutting down all background programs 1) Right-click on the Taskbar. 2) Select Task Manager. 3) Click the Applications tab. 4) Highlight each program listed and click the End Task button. 5) Once all the programs are closed you can try the game once again. The Windows OS allows you to have lots of different programs running at the same time. Sometimes these programs do not play happily together and create problems. Many modern games are very demanding on your computer. Some game problems can be solved by making sure that the game is the only program on the field. Limiting the number of other applications and programs running can help your system and program performance across the board, not with just games. There are a couple of steps you can take to clear the field. Once you complete the steps above then your system is ready to run the game. These steps can clear up a lot of problems you may be experiencing. Your performance may also increase because you have more memory free and more resources are available to the game. Not only can this make games run more smoothly, but applications can benefit from this, as well. Virtual Memory 1) Right-click on the My Computer icon. 2) Select Properties. 3) Click the Advanced tab. 4) Under Performance, click the Settings button. 5) Click the Advanced tab. 6) Under Virtual memory, click the Change button. 7) Highlight the drive you want to set the Virtual Memory for. 8) Set the Initial size and Maximum sizes. 9) Click the Set button. Delete all files in the Windows/Temp directory 1) Click the Start button > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. 2) Select the drive you want to cleanup such as the C: drive. 3) Click the Clean up button. Sound. You need to change the midi device that Windows is using. 1) Click on the Start button > Settings > Control Panel. 2) Double-click on the Multimedia icon. 3) Click on the MIDI tab. 4) Change the device which is being used for Midi output to another device. 5) Click on the Apply button. 6) Click on the OK button. NOTE: For Windows XP 1) Click the Start button > Settings > Control Panel. 2) Double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon. 3) Click the Volume tab. 4) Under Speaker settings, click the Advanced button. 5) Click the Performance tab. 6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left. 7) Click Apply and then OK 2 times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications.
