“Hopefully we can keep it going. We’ve had a couple of games where we've had high scores but we want to score even more goals because that could be vital come the end of the season.”

Robin van Persie has picked up the equivalent honour from Premier League sponsors Barclays following a prolific month in front of goal.

 

The Dutchman found the net five times in six games as the Reds claimed victories in all but one of their December league fixtures.

 

Van Persie was delighted with the prize and said: "It was a big month for us. You have certain periods during a season when it goes your way and December was one of those periods.”
