Read only on every file

On both my dics, 80gb and 40gb, one parted up in C: and D: - every file on each dics is read only, if i try to remove it to all subfolders and so on, it will just reset itself and be back to the way it was.. For example, if i try to change a skin or something at a game it will work one time, but when it closes and i start it up again, it will reset to default or the way it has always been.

 

Help.

If you are running windows 2003 you got to end child inharity one main folders. Can't help you on other systems!

Try to use the command ATTRIB from Command Prompt.

 

If you want to remove read-only on everything. maybe something like:

 

attrib -r C: /S /D

didn't work.. I tried attrib -r C: and didnt show anything, but when i used attrib -r D: it just said File not found.

      [/S [/D]]

 +   Sets an attribute.
 -   Clears an attribute.
 R   Read-only file attribute.
 /S  Processes matching files in the current folder
     and all subfolders.
 /D  Processes folders as well.

 

Try this on the game-folder you have problems saving a skin:

 

attrib -r "Path" /S /D

where Path is eg. C:\Games\Tetris

 

We had some problems at work with a data-folder resetting to Read-only and this solved the problem.

nope, still resetes :\ it just the problem isn't with just one folder, like your problem was, all files and folders are read only, it must be something wrong with the harddrive..
