Slimda Skrevet 10. november 2009 Skrevet 10. november 2009 This is a thread for discussing and practicing the english language, and then we might as well be as correct as possible when we spell it.

Bear^ Skrevet 10. november 2009 Skrevet 10. november 2009 "Shit, its på norsk" I think about "The julekalender" when I read the Solberg English. I remember someone here at the hotel, a guest asked for coffee, and the lady behind the counter here said "The coffee machine is over there, just go over there and take yourself".

henbruas Skrevet 10. november 2009 Skrevet 10. november 2009 (endret) Just think how much better our English could be if they would hire competent English teachers in the primary and lower secondary schools! Poor little children, they should be exposed to a good, british accent, not, as Iskall put it, "norwenglish". Endret 10. november 2009 av Henrik B

2ball_ Skrevet 10. november 2009 Skrevet 10. november 2009 Well, as it is today we know more about English in many cases than our teachers. >< I've had it like that for some time..
Gjest Slettet+981287349 Skrevet 10. november 2009 Skrevet 10. november 2009 (endret) They should be exposed to a good, british accent, not, as Iskall put it, "norwenglish". Well spoken my friend. Well, as it is today we know more about English in many cases than our teachers. True, I have learned to speak good english from watching English and American films with english subtitles. Now I don't bother to put on subtitles. Endret 10. november 2009 av Slettet+981287349
Bear^ Skrevet 10. november 2009 Skrevet 10. november 2009 (endret) Only reason for me to have subtitles on is because sometimes they speak very quiet in the movies and still with my surround stereo system I have troubles making out what they're saying, so, of old habbit I turn on the subtitles even though I may not read one line at all. I'm finding more use for English than Norwegian in many cases, there is even times when I have to stop and think what the name is in English and try to translate that to Norwegian. Per example today, I was working in the restaurante and we have monkfish on the menue. I had to stop and think "what the heck was monkfish in Norwegian again" before I could answer the guest what type of fish we had on the menue. Endret 10. november 2009 av Bear^

I have the same thing, its funny though since I'm Norwegian. Its pretty wierd what globalisation has done to our language. Endret 10. november 2009 av Slettet+981287349
