Anbefalte innlegg

Real-World Performance:

Despite ATI's recent introduction of Catalyst AI, the GeForce 6800Ultra still outguns ATI's best in a real-world scenario. It out-does it in terms of image quality, while returning a frame rate that is as playable, if not more so than the X800 XT Platinum Edition. The XFX GeForce 6800Ultra is another step beyond this, it delivers the same image quality and a frame rate that is even smoother than what can be achieved by the reference-speed GeForce 6800Ultra.

Aside from the reflection bug in Far Cry, the achievable image quality and performance has improved greatly in the later ForceWare driver versions, and once the problems with below-par image quality are fixed, we can expect the XFX GeForce 6800Ultra to be capable of delivering image quality and performance that is as impressive as what the X800 XT Platinum Edition is capable of delivering in this title.

If you're a real-time strategy fanatic, there is pretty much no competition for the GeForce 6800Ultra, and XFX's implementation of this board is yet another step ahead too - ATI's best just cannot keep up with NVIDIA's best in both Rome: Total War and more so Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War. The XFX is capable of running at both a higher image quality and a smoother frame rate than the X800 XT Platinum Edition by either increasing AA and AF settings, increasing in-game resolution or because ATI's best was not capable of running at the highest detail settings.

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow proved to be a very solid performer on all three configurations, but again, the highly-clocked XFX GeForce 6800Ultra delivered the best playable image quality, with the X800 XT Platinum not too far behind. The general optimisations within Catalyst AI are proving to work well for ATI, and they're bridging the gap in titles where before they were unable to perform closely to the higher-clocked GeForce 6800Ultra's, such as the XFX.

Need For Speed: Underground proved to be a dead-heat in terms of performance, and we believe that this title is not as graphically limited as it once was - the fact that we have maximised both the driver settings and the in-game detail settings proves that we have got to the stage where performance in the title is determined by the CPU and general system bandwidth
