Can one have two video cards in one PC?

Can one have two video cards in one PC? I would use Nvidia card for regular PC use, gaming, potentially projector connection. However connecting TV via S Video is very hard task once you have Nvidia. So far I didn't fing the way for easy solution that would give correct picture size (without trimming or other distortion). So I came up with idea to have another ATI card that would habe VGAtoRGB connection to my CRT TV. Then I can watch photos, avi files without distortion

 

Any ideas if that is possible?

hmm, It should work with an PCI card to view your media on the TV.

Yes, two videocards works flawlessly, but i believe you need to put the second card on the PCI bus.

@BKB I can see pictures and video on TV today with Nvidia, but the quality is bad and corners are cut. I have posted thread about it, but no feasable solution so far:

The brand of your video card and mobo is not relevant. It is up to the OS if this stuff works. I know that Linux and Windows both handle this beutifully. I have never tried running both ATI and Nvidia on one computer, but that should not pose a problem

PS. Did you consider using a matrox card for TV output? Should be easy to come by in a PCI version, and give better picture.

I heard Matrox handles VGAtoRGB as well, just thought it is easier to find some cheap ATI card as those are more common. I use XP SP2. Will have to check space in my case. My Nvidia is cooled by Zalman and it takes some space... Hope this will work.

Matrox G400 Dual Head has superior output quality. G450 and G550 is also good, but can't match a G400 Dual Head card.

 

I use a Matrox G400 Millennium MAX card in my HTPC with RGB output
