Help me choose the right computer for me!

Recommended Posts

I dont know much about hardware at all. I want a good computer built from SOLID and STABLE parts, a nootebook with unstable parts that make the machine hung up or breake everytime i tuch it aint usefull. Reading and writing is what i do most, so the screen must be exepsconaly good. I dont want a old lada or a brand new ferriari, i want a mercedes. Somthing thats worth the money. I dont want to buy the latest and greatest since the value of computers tend to go dramaticaly down very fast. That it is easy to sell in the future is a +(it might be easier to sell a colorfull powerbook than a black boring toshiba) I simply want to get the most outoff my money. I might buy a ibook or powerbook maybe a Thinkpad, im not sure. If i choose the mac i'll be running unix based osX ofcourse, if i chose a i686 i'll be running freebsd. It wont be used for any gaming but its nice to know that it can perform somthing when im compiling or running big apps. Im going to use it in the classrom and library so it would be nice if it dident make as much noise as a formula one car. Please tell me why you would choose/not choose laptop/nootebook BRAND X, it wont help me if you dont, if you dont want to help me choose the right laptop for me please dont post a reply. Thank you.

For those of you that dont get my crappy english here is some keywords that might help you to understand:

SOLID

STABLE

GET THE MOST OUT OF MY MONEY/WORTH THE MONEY

EASY TO SELL IN THE FUTURE

ALRIGHT SPECS

NOT A MINI, NOT A TANK

I dont know much about hardware at all. I want a good computer built from SOLID and STABLE parts, " :)

You asked me? =) But here is an elaboration of my recommendation:

Because they are, quite simply, the best notebooks you can spend your money on.

Take it from a guy who has browsed tons and tons of notebook/hardware forums in the last 6 months - and read thousands of user opinions...

The clear message is: people like their thinkpads, and they are built like tanks... I read all the time about something like: "my old thinkpad from 1993 is still running and looking like the day I bought it, my son runs linux on it"..!

You just don't hear that kind of thing, about a Dell for instance :)

So even though they cost a lot - when I had to buy a notebook the 2nd time around (I returned the first one. a HP!) - my choice was the IBM T41p - the best notebook in the world, going by the hardware in it, and the size - and the opinions people have - everyone is extremely happy with their choice - and they all say it was worth the money spent.

t41p, the best in the world? No way, the nw8000 is better.

It's 0.6-0.8 kg heavier, it's substiantially bigger, and less durable (in all likelihood). So no, it's not a better notebook - maybe if you were to use it as a desktop replacement, but that's not the point of a notebook.
