renault wheel change

My Renault scenic came with 15" wheels. I have acquired studded tyres on 13" hubs which are useful for mountain trips. The studded wheels are off a renault 19 ,so bolt and hub centre dimensions, impress etc are similar. Is there any reason why I cannot use 13" wheels in this situation ? I know the usual query is the reverse of mine ie Can I use bigger wheels ! Thankful for any insight

What's the original tyredimensions on your car? Ie 185/65/15.

What's the new dimension on your new tires? Ie 195/75/13

original 185 / 65 /15

New tyres 165 /70 /13

You need 175/75/13 for the tyres to be roadlegal because you cannot increase or decrease the circumference by more than 5%.

175/75-13 is -4.6% and legal, but 165/75-13 is -9.7% and not legal.

Also bear in mind that the brakes on your car might be to big to fit inside the smaller R19 wheels. The R19-wheels are much older than your Scenic, and may therefore not fit your car. Also, in addition to the fact that the circumfere of the tyres may devi less than 5% from your original dimension, the load index of the tyre must be eqal to or better then your car's requirements.
