Reason I put this threat in Hovedkort area, since I believem problem lies in Silicon Image controller drivers (integrated to this MOBO) rather than HDD itself. Facts: If I use F8 during startup it comes up with menu of all available drives. My MAxtor MAxline III 300gb is in the list. I understand BIOS detects HDD. I boot from another drive connected directly to SATA connector. Once XP is started, I open device manager, find Silicon Image Controller and look at properties. Under Device info I find my HDD details. Looking into disk manager. Can't see new HDD appearing there. It is not detected by Partition Magic either. Once I have installed 3114 driver for Silicon Image Controller, it put some Java SATARaid program into start up directory. It is supposed to start every time PC starts. However, when I restart pc and it opens this Java SATARaid program, system shuts down and restarts. Tried couple of times, every time system shuts down on Java SATA Raid startup. Then I try to remove Java SATA Raid program from start up while XP is loading. Managed to do that, PC didn't crash, and also JAva SATA Raid started. I understand this is utility software that should help me to enable that SATA HDD plugged into SATA RAID connector on Silicon Image Controller. However this was the only time I managed to open this program. It is no longer in start up, but if I try to open it manually, it shuts the system down. It is either some compatibility problem of that utility software or I miss some drivers. Does anyone have experience with utilizing Silicon Image Controller on this MOBO? Lenke til kommentar
ajocius Skrevet 14. september 2005 Forfatter Rapporter Del Skrevet 14. september 2005 Searched drivers and that is what I found: Original mobo CD contains: Silicon Image SATA Driver When I checked Device Manager within Control Panel, I see: Silicon Image SiI 3114 Soft Raid 5 Controller Checked ASUS webpage for driver downloads for my mobo P5AD2-E Premium. There I found: SATA Raid driver; Silicon Image Serial ATA IDE Driver V1.0.0.7 and RAID driver V1.0.0.7; Silicon Image Serial ATA RAID5 Driver V 0.0.0.14 and Utility Not to mention available number of various drivers on Silicon Image web page for 3114 controller..... (the one integrated into mobo). But I do not focus on them, as someone adviced, that mobo drivers should cover controllers as well. Should I install one of above?? Lenke til kommentar
