fjerne data fra harddisken

Dette har jeg lurt på ei stund nå, hvordan fjerner jeg filer fra et ext3/ext2/reiserfs filsystem permanent? Altså ikke bare slette fila, men sørge for at «undelete» ikke blir mulig.

Den enkleste løsningen er vel "shred /dev/disk"?

Tenkte mer på enkelte filer, ikke hele harddisker. Uansett, jeg kan/bør vel ikke bruke shred på ext3?

CAUTION: Note that shred relies on a very important assumption:

that the filesystem overwrites data in place.  This is the traditional

way to do things, but many modern filesystem designs do not satisfy this

assumption.  The following are examples of filesystems on which shred is

not effective:

 

* log-structured or journaled filesystems, such as those supplied with

  AIX and Solaris (and JFS, ReiserFS, XFS, Ext3, etc.)

DaBear: Du kan bruke shred eller wipe på et filsystem med journaling. Men det er ganske sannsynlig at de filene du vil ha overskrevet ikke blir det.

 

Så det beste er å skrive over hele partisjonen (med shred eller wipe). Men selv da er det ikke sikkert at dataene er "borte".
