Det er bare et par måneder siden vi fikk nye maps for halo2.

Men gled dere til 7.juli , da kommer det fem nye, og de høres intresante ut

Direct-feed movies of Spartan combat on the final 5 maps.

June 7, 2005 - At E3 we previewed the five remaining maps that make up the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack and today we are proud to present a huge number of direct feed movies featuring the new environments. Terminal, Backwash, Relic, Elongation, and Gemini will all be available at retailers on July 7th.

Descriptions of unreleased maps can be found below, but we also have information regarding the bonus features Bungie has included on the Map Pack disc. The first goodie is a documentary detailing the creation of the new content and a general feel for what it's like to work at Bungie Studios. The documentary is at times humorous and shows how a variety of opinions about the game were merged into a final product.

Aside from the complete game updates, the documentary, and the new maps there is also an animated bonus feature called "Another Day at the Beach." This details a side story that takes place during the events of Halo 2 when Master Chief is off-camera. The short uses the same engine as the game, but because there are no gameplay scripts running, it is able to be displayed at a higher resolution. Using pre-renders also allowed the developers to tweak small details that make for a more cinematic experience. On with the maps…

Terminal:

Terminal is a mid-sized to large map that is perfect for games of capture the flag. The level is set in a ruined section of New Mombasa where well-off citizens gathered for shopping or social activities. The area is comprised of a city street with a train running down the middle on raised rails. On either side of the street there are structures housing turrets, a parking lot, and small base areas.

The hook in this level is that every 30 seconds a train blazes through the center of the map crushing everything in its path. The brilliant aspect of this design is that when playing a game like king of the hill, the zone will periodically appear on the tracks. There are a few seconds of rumbling before master chief becomes a pancake, but people will often sacrifice their life for a few precious seconds as king.

Backwash:

This is a small level set in the swamp environment from Halo 1 that is perfect for small death matches or games of assault. The level is circular with a base in the center and winding tree formations are scattered throughout the area. A thick fog covers the level that slightly limits visibility. This is the most straightforward of the new maps, and one of my personal favorite.

Relic:

Relic is a midsized asymmetric island that is designed for capture the flag. On one end of the island there is a long man-made structure that works as a ramp leading to the center of the island. The flag sits at the top of this ramp, meaning that jumping off of the edge is the quickest way to return to the other side.

This map also contains a floating sniper lookout and a switch that activates a teleport from one side of the level to the other.

Elongation:

This is a recreation of Longest from Halo 1. Bungie never liked the way ladders worked in Longest so they widened the level and replaced them with ramps. In the center hallway there are two conveyer belts that move huge crates in both directions. These moving walkways lead to some interesting strategic elements. First, players can duck to take themselves off of the radar and still move across the map. The Crates can be knocked over with the rocket launcher and start to clog the center of the level creating bottlenecks and dead ends. Lastly, the crates empty out into pits, so players who don't pay attention will find themselves at the bottom of a deep hole.

Gemini:

Gemini is one of the best looking new maps. It is set on a Covenant craft and features the automatic sliding doors found in Covenant architecture. The sliding doors lead to surprise confrontations that can become pretty messy when the rocket launcher is involved. It is a midsize map with teleports and a large, sprawling tree.

Be sure to check out the media page for a ton of new movies detailing the maps.
