won´t connect to internet after IE7 upgrade

After upgrading to IE7 the computer keeps asking me to connect to Internet

even though the computer is connected, with cabel, just as it was before the

upgrade. IE even loads the startup-screen, but then it keeps asking me to

connect to internet!

 

I am using a Fujitsu Siemens laptop with winxp SP2.

try to unplug your modem/router and let it stay unplugged until the box has cooled down, if this don't work try 2 right click the local connection icon in the bottom right corner and press repair
