List of slang names for poker hands

Many individual cards and hands have slang names in poker. Some examples:

Dead Man's Hand: Two pair, aces and eights. This is the hand held by Wild Bill Hickok when he was shot and killed, and plays a relatively wide cultural role.

Pink, All Pink: Flush of Hearts or Diamonds

Blue, All Blue: Flush of Clubs or Spades

Puppy Feet, Pups: Flush of Clubs

One Jack Off: JJJxx

Motown: JJ55x (Jacks and Fives, Jackson Five)

Wheel: Ace to five low straight, also known as a Bicycle, or "The Name of the Game" in Bicycle.

Steel wheel: Ace-to-five straight flush.

Big Bobtail: An open ended 4 card straight flush.

Boat: Short for Full Boat which means Full House, often declared as XXXs full of YYs, such as "Aces full of Jacks" where the hand is AAAJJ.

Trips: Three of a kind

Quads: Four of a kind

Specifically, in the pocket in Texas hold 'em:

A-A: Pocket Rockets, American Airlines, Bullets, Bulls

A-K: Big Slick, suited: Anna Kournikova ("looks great, never wins")

A-Q: Little Slick, Mrs. Slick, Big clit, Catch of the Day, Doyle Brunson (see note at bottom)

A-J: Blackjack, Ajax, Apple Jacks

A-10: Johnny Moss, Corners

A-9: Not Spades

A-8: Dead Man's Hand (by analogy with Wild Bill's aces and eights)

A-5: Little Corners

A-2: Michael Jackson (Big hand touching little hand)

K-K: Cowboys, Penn and Teller, Elvis Presley

K-Q: Marriage, (offsuit) Mixed Marriage, Royalty

K-J: Kojak

K-9: The Animal, Canine, (offsuit) Sawmill

K-8: The NY Heart Attack, (a NYC player died holding this hand, April, 2005)

K-3: Seafood hand (King Crab)

K-2: Steep Climb

Q-Q: pocket bitches, Ladies, Siegfried & Roy, Snowshoes, four tits, Wal-Mart Shoppers, The Hilton Sisters

Q-J: Oedipus

Q-5: Granny Mae

Q-4: B-Diddy

Q-3: Gay Waiter, San Francisco Busboy ("Queen with a treytray")

Q-3 suited: Posh Gay Waiter

J-A: Jack Ass

J-K offsuit: Bachelor's Hand (because it's "Jack-King, off")

J-J: Fishhooks, Hooks, Jokers, Kid Dynomite (after J. J. Evans)

J-7: Jack Daniel's

J-5: Jackson Five, Motown

10-9 clubs: Mile Higher

It is traditional to exclaim "Presto!" while revealing the pocket fives if the hand wins.

5-4: Moneymaker

4-A: Pearl Harbor

4-9: Gold Rush, San Francisco

4-7: Forty-seven

4-5: Jesse James, Colt 45

4-4: Sailboats

4-3: George W. Bush

4-2: Bill Clinton

3-A: Baskin-Robbins

A-Q is called the "Doyle Brunson" because Brunson rarely played this hand. 10-2 is also called the Doyle Brunson because he won the World Series of Poker with it twice in a row (1976 and 1977).

Hvorfor ikke kjøpe på Jysk? Det er kanskje ikke samme fordelingen når det gjelder chips, men det koster 299,- som er en ganske så stor forskjell.

Det var det jeg også tenkt. Har hørt historier om folk som har importert sjetongsett til 3,5k, syns det blir litt drøyt. Seff, det står ikke siffer på disse sjetongene, men hvem trenger det? De føles ordentlige og om vekten stemmer eller ei, ser jeg på som uinteressant. Kortene slites gjerne litt fort ut, men det kan du jo kjøpe på Esso om du vil. :)
