IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen Eyal Zamir reportedly yelled at cabinet ministers on Sunday that they should finalize and accept a hostage-ceasefire deal currently on the table rather than push ahead with an expanded military operation in the Gaza Strip.

Ministers, in response, berated Zamir that his past advice had been shown to be misguided, according to a Channel 13 report on the allegedly heated exchange.

It was the latest in a series of reported clashes between the army chief and ministers over how the Gaza war is being managed.

The Israeli Business Forum, which consists of about 200 owners and CEOS of leading Israeli companies, said that "the government policy led by Benjamin Netanyahu is leading the State of Israel into a dangerous and unprecedented economic and political slump."

The forum leaders referred to Netanyahu's speech on Monday in which he said that Israel is in a "kind of political isolation" and will have to produce its own weapons "and become a super Sparta."

According to them, "This is not Sparta, and this vision will make it difficult for Israel to survive in a developing global world."

The forum's statement said that "the Israeli economy is showing resilience despite security and political challenges, but the resilience cannot last forever. The Israeli government must change direction immediately for the benefit of all Israeli citizens. The government must urgently promote the end of the longest war in Israeli history, the release of all hostages, the announcement of a state investigation committee [on the events of October 7], and the setting of an election date in the immediate future."

The business leaders addressed Netanyahu personally, saying: "We are marching confidently towards a political, economic, and social abyss that will endanger our existence in the Land of Israel. You must stop this."

Virker som basert på hva Bibi selv sier at han ønsker en selvforsynt krigsøkonomi i all overskuelig fremtid. Da må han jo også føre krig i all overskuelig fremtid. 
Det er galskap i seg selv, enda mer galskap og tro at et såpass lite land som Israel, med en relativt stor befolkning i forhold til landareal kan bli et autarki.

Historisk har autarkier alltid invadert andre land nettopp fordi økonomien kollapser til slutt.  
 

At Bibi også går nå inn for og forbereder at Europa vil innføre økonomiske sanksjoner mot Israel er dårlig nyheter for palestinerne både på Gaza og Vestbredden

FN erklærte det som skjer i Gaza for et folkemord.

FN har ikke erklært at det skjer et folkemord.

Undersøkelseskommisjonen som nå har konkludert med folkemord er FN-oppnevnt, men uavhengig fra FN og representerer ikke FNs ståsted. Kommisjonen leverer sine funn til FN, eksempelvis slik som de gjorde etter den innledende Rwanda-granskingen. Så nå er det opp til FNs medlemsland å studere funnene i rapporten.

EUs utenrikssjef Kaja Kallas annonserer at EU-kommisjonen vil legge frem suspensjon av handelskonsesjoner med Israel, samt sanksjoner mot noen av Netanyahus ekstremistiske ministre i morgen.

The IDF releases footage showing troops of the 98th Division rolling into Gaza City last night, as the military began a new offensive against Hamas in the area.

The military says the troops entered Gaza City with support from the Israeli Air Force and Navy, with dozens of “terror infrastructures” being struck, including observation posts and booby-trapped buildings.

The division, an elite formation of paratroopers and commando units, joined the 162nd Division, which was already operating on the outskirts of Gaza City.

In the coming days, a third division, the 36th, will join the Gaza City offensive, according to the IDF.

Det var jeg ikke klar over, men det er ingen styrker fra andre land som er klar til å gå inn istedetfor Israel. Flere har sagt de kan stille opp,  men alt koker ut i kålen. Nå er det langt fra sikkert at Israel hadde godtatt andre, men jeg savner et realistisk alternativ til Hamas OG Israelsk okkupajson

Hvorfor skulle Israel ønske andre nasjoner inn der? Israel har til hensikt å drive Palestinerne ut fra Gaza. De må finne seg et annet sted å bo. Kommer det flere droner eller granater fra Vestbredden vil det samme skje der.

Helt ærlig sak det. Jeg ønsker også fred. Men det er ikke mulig etter angrepet 7. oktober. Så det jeg skriver er bare virkeligheten av hva Israel kommer til å gjøre. Har tenkt mye på konsekvensen av eksplosjonen av dronebruk etter invasjonen av Ukraina. Det vil være nesten umulig for Israel å hindre slike angrep. Murene hjelper ikke mot droner, heller ikke rakettforsvar. De flyr for lavt, og er for billige og lett tilgjengelige. Det er godt mulig de sitter på etterretning om at Hamas jobber med planer om å masseprodusere slike droner, eller få dem forsynt fra utlandet. Jeg er overbevist om at dette er mye av det som ligger bak hvordan de nå tenker.

Valget står mellom Hamas-utryddelse eller videre Hamas-styre.

Europeiske ledere tror det finnes et tredje alternativ, hvor Israel trekker seg ut og Hamas frivillig legger ned våpnene og det på magisk blir fred og fordragelighet, men dette er jo like urealistisk som Donald Trumps fredsplan for Ukraina! 

Vi kan ikke gjøre så mye annet enn å vente å se. Operasjonen i Gaza By begynner nå, og jeg har sett estimater at det finnes rundt 2500 Hamas-militante igjen i det området. Det er ikke et umulig nummer å bekjempe på et lite år, men Hamas har vist seg å være ekstremt resistente og krigen begynner å bli ganske upopulær i Israel.

22 hjelpeorganisasjoner krever at verden griper inn for å stanse krigen i Gaza

Lederne i over tjue internasjonale hjelpeorganisasjoner, som Redd Barna og Leger uten grenser, krever i et opprop at verdens land griper inn for å stanse krigen i Gaza.

Alle organisasjonene har vært i Gaza.

De beskriver situasjonen som «folkemord», «humanitær katastrofe», og advarer om at «Gaza er i ferd med å bli et dødsdom for titusener av barn og familier».

De ber verdens ledere og FN om å gripe inn politisk, økonomisk og juridisk for å stoppe angrepene, og å stille ansvarlige til ansvar for brudd på folkeretten.

GAZA, 17 Sept 2025: The leaders of over 20 major aid agencies working in Gaza, including Islamic Relief, are calling on world leaders to urgently intervene after a UN commission concluded, for the first time, that genocide is being committed. The statement is below:

As world leaders convene next week at the United Nations, we are calling on all member states to act in accordance with the mandate the UN was charged with 80 years ago.

What we are witnessing in Gaza is not only an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, but what the UN Commission of Inquiry has now concluded is a genocide. With this finding, the Commission joins a growing number of human rights organisations and leaders globally, and within Israel.

The inhumanity of the situation in Gaza is unconscionable. As humanitarian leaders, we have borne direct witness to the horrifying deaths and suffering of the people of Gaza. Our warnings have gone unheeded and thousands more lives are still at stake.

Now, as the Israeli government has ordered the mass displacement of Gaza City – home to nearly one million people – we are on the precipice of an even deadlier period in Gaza’s story if action is not taken. Gaza has been deliberately made uninhabitable.

About 65,000 Palestinians have now been killed, including more than 20,000 children. Thousands more are missing, buried under the rubble that has replaced Gaza’s once lively streets.

Nine out of 10 people in Gaza’s 2.1 million population have been forcibly displaced — most of them multiple times — into increasingly shrinking pockets of land that cannot sustain human life.

More than half a million people are starving. Famine has been declared and is spreading. The cumulative impact of hunger and physical deprivation means people are dying every day.

Throughout Gaza, entire cities have been razed to the ground, along with their life-sustaining public infrastructure, such as hospitals and water treatment plants. Agricultural land has been systemically destroyed.

If the facts and numbers aren’t enough, we have harrowing story upon harrowing story.

Since the Israeli military tightened its siege six months ago, blocking food, fuel, and medicine, we witnessed children and families waste away from starvation as famine took hold. Our colleagues too have been impacted.

Many of us have been into Gaza. We have met countless Palestinians who have lost limbs as a result of Israel’s bombardment. We have personally met children so traumatized by daily airstrikes that they cannot sleep. Some cannot speak. Others have told us they want to die to join their parents in heaven.

We have met families who eat animal food to survive and boil leaves as a meal for their children.

Yet world leaders fail to act. Facts are ignored. Testimony is cast aside. And more people are killed as a direct consequence.

Our organisations, together with Palestinian civil society groups, the UN, and Israeli human rights organisations, can only do so much. We have tirelessly tried to defend the rights of the people of Gaza and sustain humanitarian assistance, but we are being obstructed every step of the way.

We have been denied access, and the militarization of the aid system has proved deadly. Thousands of people have been shot at while trying to reach the handful of sites where food is distributed under armed guard.

Governments must act to prevent the evisceration of life in the Gaza Strip, and to end the violence and occupation. All parties must disavow violence against civilians, adhere to international humanitarian law and pursue peace.

States must use every available political, economic, and legal tool at their disposal to intervene. Rhetoric and half measures are not enough. This moment demands decisive action.

The UN enshrined international law as the cornerstone of global peace and security. If Member States continue to treat these legal obligations as optional, they are not only complicit but are setting a dangerous precedent for the future. History will undoubtedly judge this moment as a test of humanity. And we are failing. Failing the people of Gaza, failing the hostages, and failing our own collective moral imperative.

Da ligger forslaget fra EU-kommisjonen på bordet. 

Den betyr at dagens handelsavtale fryses, og Israel får samme betingelser som ethvert annet land uten handelsavtale (som i praksis er svært få). EU er Israels største handelspartner, så dette kan potensielt ramme Israels økonomi forholdsvis hardt.

Det må godkjennes av medlemslandene i henhold til avstemningsreglene (17 medlemsland med 65% av befolkningen). Tyskland og Ungarn stemmer nok imot, ellers er det ganske åpent.
