Intel med nye prosessorer på 90nm

Intel lanserte tre nye prosessorer for bærbare PCer i går. De nye prosessorene er hovedsakelig rettet mot skrivebordserstattere. Alle de nye prosessorene er produsert med Intels seneste 90nm-teknologi.

Hehe, tja. Det er jo samme sokkel, men man må ha en BIOS som støtter CPUene.

"ECS said it is readying desktop replacement machines sporting full-blow Prescotts, but a sposkesman confessed to “having some issues” with the 103W chip. The size of fan required to cool the beast prevents it slipping into smaller units and imaginative use of air-flow need to be deployed, we learned.

 

It is clear that these notebooks can no longer be called laptops. ‘Nad heaters might be more appropriate.

 

Competitor Mitac has been utterly unable to get a Prescott P4 into any of its notebooks. "At 103Watts it's just too hot," we were told. Instead, Mitac contents itself with offering units based on the Prescott Celeron which at 81.1W pumps out a more manageable amount of heat."

Den artikkelen du referer til viser til ordinære Pentium 4 prosessorer slik jeg har forstått det. Artikkelen som vi har publisert viser til Mobile Pentium 4 prosessorer som har bedre TDP enn ordinære Pentium 4 prosessorer. Dell har jo klart å få til Pentium 4 (Prescott) i Inspiron 9100, slik at Mobile Pentium 4 (Prescott) med bedre TDP bør jo gå bedre.
