Medieval II Total War: Play the Demo!

Thats right! As some of you will already know, the demo has been launched - albeit a little unexpectedly. As a result of a magazine in America cover-mounting the demo two weeks early, weve had to move on releasing the demo pretty quick sharp!

The Medieval II: Total War demo covers two key historical battles for you to contest and, hopefully, win! The famous battle of Agincourt is faithfully recreated, as well as the lesser known but much harder to master, battle of Pavia. In addition to this there is a tutorial based on the Battle of Hastings with a juicy gameplay movie added in for good measure.

If youd like to get a taster of what Med II will be able to offer you then head over to the mirror links below. As a heads up, keep your eyes peeled for the next newsletter when well reveal the tactics needed to conquer the battles in the demo! In the meantime enjoy!

Hints From History - The Demo

In order to give you some help with the demo we thought wed add in some useful links about the battles you are about to embark on! Firstly youll find some background and battle tactics that were employed by Henry V at the Battle of Agincourt Here

The Battle of Pavia was a resounding victory for the Imperial Roman army. Using cunning and tactical superiority they administered a humiliating defeat to the French army. The Med II demo puts you in the heat of this battle but beware, quick wits are needed to defeat a determined and intelligent opponent! For more information and maybe even the odd tip, take a look Here

Who is the Greatest Philosopher of War!

As youll remember in our last newsletter we set you the challenge of coming up with a rousing and inspiring ending to a battle cry given by a general to his troops before a great battle. Weve received hundreds of replies, all of them inspiring, in one way or another! However, we had to choose the best of the best.

However! Because there were so many people out there who have clearly lead vast armies into the thick of battle before, we decided that one winner just wasnt enough. So with that in mind, I am pleased to announce the winners of the War Philosopher competition below!

Winner 1: "we shall be absolved of all human sin. Believe me when I tell you that he who sheds blood in the name of the Lord shall rest peacefully this night, be it in his own bed, his sleep undisturbed by moral doubt; or in Heaven, reclining in glory everlasting beside the throne of God!" - Xander Bennett, Queensland, Australia

Winner 2: "...we shall be defending our Lord God, his true people and his faithful country! To arms men of England! To arms! Fear not for your lives for God has chosen you to bring his vengance!" John Harris

I am sure all of you are desperate to know what our general was actually saying to his troops, so here are the actual final words of our great leader!
